Patterns: Access & Use
When you purchase a crochet pattern from Whymsi Row, you will be sent an email providing direct access to your pattern for download within a minute of placing your order.
But if you have previously purchased crochet patterns from Whymsi Row, you can also access your digital files and re-download them as many times as you like from the My Files Page.
You may absolutely sell anything you personally make from this pattern! This excludes mass production methods. According to creative seller best practices, I ask that you please credit myself, Whymsi Row, as the pattern designer and consider linking to my website on your online item listing(s). Of course I cannot enforce this, but I do the same for my fellow creatives because it is a nice gesture and a sign of respect for one another’s work.
Please note that the information and photos in this pattern are the sole copyrighted property of Whymsi Row ©2024. You may not distribute or replicate this pattern, modified/translated or not, in any form. This includes written, pictorial and video formats. You may not recreate this pattern by looking at the photos and then sell or offer the pattern for free as your own.
You can purchase them here on my website Patterns page, on my Etsy or on my Ravelry.
I would request that you purchase them either here on my website or on Ravelry because Etsy takes a large cut of revenue from it's sellers, in addition to questionably expensive marketing schemes which I am unable to opt out of.
Patterns: Technical
My patterns are written with the intermediate crocheter in mind.
However, I believe that an adventurous beginner who likes a creative challenge would fair reasonably well with most of them. However, this largely depends on what you are looking for in your stitching time and your willingness to use online resources to self-teach gaps in your knowledge of crochet basics.
If you prefer more repetitive/meditative patterns, mine may not be for you. But if you like to construct, experiment and conjure up magic with yarn- I got you!
I encourage you to always play at crochet, challenge yourself and try those aspirational projects- you can always come back to them in a month or ten as you grow as a crafter!
But, ultimately, only you know your own capabilities and what you are looking for in your crochet time.
Please Note: All of my pattern listings clearly state that you will need to know basic crochet stitches and concepts such as inc/dec, using magic rings, reading a chart/diagram using a key and working from your own measurements.
Please read individual pattern listings and be honest with yourself about your abilities. I love helping people with specific pattern-related questions and helping my customers make something magical using my patterns! However, I market my patterns as intermediate level for a reason and I do not factor the time it takes to create tailor-made 'how to crochet' tutorials for novice crafters into my workload.
All of my patterns are written in US Standard crochet terms.
However, I am based in the UK so I do use millimetre-based hook sizes (ex. 4mm, 5.5mm, etc) and use UK fibre weight names (ex. DK, aran, chunky, etc). Read my blog post here for more information on the differences between UK and US crochet.
Please read my comprehensive blog post on yarn picking and substitutions here.

Some of them do, yes! This will always be clearly labelled in the pattern description available before purchase.
While my charts and diagrams do come with keys and tips for working with them, these patterns assume that you either know how to use a crochet chart/diagram or are willing to use online resources to self-teach.
I market these patterns as intended for intermediate crafters- NOT beginners- for a reason, and I will not offer a free, personalize tutorial on how to use a crochet chart/diagram as part of your purchase.
Why do I use charts/diagrams? Sometimes crochet involves switching back and forth between 1-3 stitches so frequently or irregularly that to write it out in the usual fashion of a pattern would look like an absolute headache waiting to be read! In these cases, pattern writers use charts or diagrams (decoded by a key) to clearly visually depict what would otherwise end up being pages upon pages of text... which the reader would struggle to keep track of their place amidst!
No, and I have no plans to offer video tutorials in the future.
Securely selling video files, either for download or streaming, is an involved and complex process currently outside of Whymsi Row's remit.
Most of my patterns do not come with a gauge, but where relevant they come with measurement-based check-in points amidst the pattern.
When I design patterns, I do everything to make them work without a gauge because gauge is a bit of an absurd concept to me. I know this is a little sacrilegious in the crochet world, so let me explain:
One person’s own gauge varies day-to-day or even hour-to-hour depending on their mood, energy levels, etc. Between two people a dozen factors can affect ability to meet gauge. Some of these factors include ability to access similar materials (budget, geographic location), skill level and sensory needs (fibre preferences).
In the interest of keeping my patterns as accessible to and accommodating of everyone’s needs and as applicable to sustainable ventures as possible, forgoing gauge is an easy choice, even if it gives me an additional creative challenge.
Additionally, going gauge-less gives more freedom to my crafters to use the fibres they love and scrap-bust whenever possible, which is priceless ♥
To read more about environmental considerations and sensory needs within crochet, check out the end of this blog post.
Because I usually design gauge-less, I instead make my patterns work to be as unique as you.
Working in as many made-to-measure components into my wearables as possible is the easiest way make them truly inclusive.
I generally try to focus on designs which work on all body shapes & sizes, no matter how much they are sized down or up, anyway. But if I ever think a design may not work so well at much smaller or bigger sizes, I will always be honest about that up front in pattern descriptions available before purchase.

After dispatch, you'll receive an email with all the information you need to track your order.
Returns & Refunds
By purchasing a digital product from Whymsi Row, you confirm your understanding that refunds are not given for digital files under any circumstances. Because a return is not possible, I do not accept refunds/returns for crochet patterns, as supported by UK and EU law. All sales of digital products are final.
I only accept requests for return & refund for ready-to-ship (not custom/commissioned) physical products for the following reasons:
- An item arrived damaged, in which case you must provide a photo of the damaged item in its original packaging.
- You received the wrong item, in which case you must provide a photo of the item you received.
If you believe either of these situations to be your case, please contact me at whymsirow@gmail.com within 7 days of delivery of your order, providing the required photo and quoting your order number.

For custom or commissioned work, refunds are not usually given due to the customized nature of these items. However, everything will be done to ensure you are satisfied with your custom or commission and any delay on production is always grounds for a full refund.
Commissions
I welcome serious inquiries into custom crochet commissions which resemble my evident style and abilities. More information can be found here.

However, this is why I periodically offer made-to-order slots of my most popular designs as part of physical product drops. Follow me on Instagram or sign up to my newsletter to stay informed about upcoming product drops and grab your next opportunity to claim such an item!
For some Whymsi Row designs, you may also request a physical make via my commissions form. However, please note that priority is given to custom and unique designs.
