❉ What you get:

Create the whimsical Melia Top and/or Dress for yourself with this 20 Page pattern! This pattern includes a mixture of written instructions, photos and a supporting stitch diagram. **This pattern does not require use of the stitch diagram- all the information is included in the written steps. The Melia Top and Dress feature lots of gorgeous leafy lace gathered at a simple ribbed bust, as well as leaf lace which drapes around the shoulders. Sturdy straps and a cute front button closure make this design both practical and whimsical- perfect for frolicking through the nearest forest! Make this top or dress as long or as short as you like with simple adjustments explained in the pattern.

Using repeating steps, this pattern is meditative and works up beautifully and surprisingly quickly in any colour!

❉ Supplies Needed:

Yarn -
(Information on substitutions is given in the pattern.)

Ribbed Bust and Straps (same for both top and dress):
75g DK yarn, or LIKELY MORE or LESS more depending on your unique size.
I used Utopia Crafts Perfect DK in colour Woodland Green (approx. 225m/246yds) for the pieces depicted in this pattern.

Lower Leaf Lace & Sleeve Lace:
Top: 130g / Dress: 300g 4 Ply yarn, or LIKELY MORE or LESS more depending on your unique size and how long you choose to make your top/dress. I used King Cole Simply Footsie 4 Ply in colour Olive (approx. 560m/612yds for Top / approx. 1530m/1673yds for Dress) for the pieces depicted in this pattern.

Required hooks - 4mm and 3.5mm.

Essential notions: Yarn needle, scissors, flexible measuring tape.

Buttons: 15mm diameter buttons. The number you will need depends on the height of your bust. As a rule of thumb, I estimate you will need approx. one button per every 1 inch of height of your bust. More detail is given in the pattern in the 'Sizing' and 'Buttoning' sections.

Helpful: Locking stitch markers, tools for blocking.

Optional: 10mm wide double sided satin ribbon, measuring your underbust plus a minimum of 12 inches for tying into a small bow. (More DK yarn can be used as a substitution- instructions for how to do so are given in the pattern.)

❉ Experience Level:

This pattern was written with confident advanced beginners in mind. Please read my FAQ for more information on the experience level required for my patterns.

This is a pattern, not a tutorial. You will need to know basic crochet stitches (including sc, hdc, dc and increase/decrease sts), how to work with a crochet pattern, how to read stitch abbreviations using a key and you must be comfortable taking and working from your own measurements.

❉ Sizing:

This pattern is entirely made to measure, meaning that a measuring tape and trying on your work as you go is essential.

❉ Pattern Notes:

This pattern uses US crochet terms.
