Please note this listing is for a digital crochet PDF PATTERN which will be immediately downloadable, not a finished item!
❉ What you get:
Create Whymsi Row's Perfect Bowler Hat for yourself with this 10 Page pattern! This pattern includes a mixture of written instructions and photos.
The Perfect Bowler Hat pattern is everything you need to make your dream crochet bowler hat! Simple techniques will allow you to create a cost-saving and infinitely more customizable alternative to a traditional bowler hat.
Make in any colour and either keep it simple as is- or use the pattern as a starting point and go crazy with embellishment to create something wildly unique! Perfect for cosplays and period costumes.
❉ Supplies Needed:
Yarn -
(Information on substitutions is given in the pattern.)
150g Aran or heavier worsted weight yarn. (Equivalent to approx. 315m/345yds)
I used Hayfield Bonus Aran with Wool for the top hat depicted in the pattern. I find this is a great thick aran weight yarn, and the 20% wool content adds good stiffness and texture, perfect for this type of project.
5.5mm and 5mm hooks
Yarn needle
Stitch markers
100cm/39in of 1.5mm (16 gauge) crafters/florist wire
Tape & pliers
Optional for Ribbon & Bow: 100cm/39in double sided satin or velvet ribbon
And fabric glue or regular sewing needle and thread
❉ Experience Level:
This pattern is likely suitable for confident advanced beginners.
You will need to know basic crochet stitches (including sc, hdc, dc and increase/decrease, front/back post sts), how to work with a crochet pattern, how to read stitch abbreviations using a key and you must be comfortable taking and working from your own measurements or trying on your work as you go.
Please read my FAQ for more information on the experience level required for my patterns.
❉ Sizing:
This pattern includes size adjustments covering the adult size range: head circumference 21-25inches in two sizes (small, large).
This pattern is made to suit your own head circumference, meaning that you should try on your work as you go to check the fit. A traditional square gauge is not given because you will be working in rounds with yarn held double, but sizing checkpoints are given in the initial stages of the pattern.
❉ Pattern Notes:
This pattern uses US crochet terms and is written in the English language.
