ACACIA

Her name is Acacia and she's inspired by many things, amongst them Algerian kaftans (but with a classic leaf lace twist). Her namesake, the Acacia tree, is symbolic of renewal from devastation across Africa. Libya in particular comes to mind. Hours upon hours of stitching and frogging... Countless laughs and tears have been worked into the stitches of this dress.

mer de glace

How do you maintain creative integrity when the need to eat and sleep securely demands that you commodify your creative process? Somewhere between mountain top and descent back down into the valley, the idea for a dress occurs. It is a small, inconsequential dawning of an idea- as unremarkable as the regular rising of the sun over the Aiguille du Midi each morning for the last three million years or so. Months pass and a love of the mountains, their disappearing glaciers and the wool sheered from their foothills is worked into thousands of stitched, only to be frogged and reworked again. And again.

MELIA

The meliae, nymphic defenders of the trees... Creatures of times past and never, but we need meliae now more than ever. With metres and metres of leaf lace and multiple painted bark armour pieces, Melia keeps growing...

Specializing in gauge-free, made-to-measure, unique-as-you crochet patterns that are meant to get you playing with yarn and daydreaming about frolicking through a nearby forest ♥

#1

My patterns are written with the intermediate crocheter in mind. However, I believe that an adventurous beginner who likes a creative challenge may fair well with them. I encourage you to always play at crochet, challenge yourself and try those aspirational projects! Read my FAQ for more info.

#2

Because I usually design gauge-less, I instead make my patterns work to be as unique as you. Working in as many made-to-measure components into my wearables as possible is the simplest way make them truly inclusive. I generally try to focus on designs which work on all body shapes & sizes, no matter how much they are sized down or up.

#3

I give specific yarn brand & colourway requirements where I think they are intrinsic to the look of the finished sample I made. However, as often as possible I focus on the amounts and fibre qualities of the materials needed instead. This is all about accessibility. My crafters come from all over the world. What is easily available to me in the UK is not readily available to everyone. What my budget accommodates may not suit theirs. I want to encourage people to use whatever they have to-hand in the interest of sustainability.

putting a new spin on an old classic

Honouring crochet's heritage while testing the possibilities presented by a few basic stitches, I focus on using our most beloved fibre medium to design structural, quirky oddities which capture the imagination and transgress the boundaries of time and tradition. I hope you enjoy transgressing them with me.

"The world of reality has its limits; the world of imagination is boundless."
